We're Launching a PIP Application Service — Coming Soon

Since we started, Silverwings has focused on two benefits: Attendance Allowance and Pension Credit. That focus has let us build up real expertise — thousands of successful DWP applications, and millions of pounds recovered for the people we've worked with. We're now ready to take the next step and bring that same approach to a benefit a lot of people ask us about: Personal Independence Payment, or PIP.

What PIP is, briefly

PIP is a benefit for people aged 16 to State Pension age who have a long-term health condition or disability that makes everyday tasks or getting around harder than it would otherwise be. It isn't means-tested, so your income and savings don't affect it, and it's paid whether or not you're in work. It's meant to help with the extra costs that come with a disability or long-term condition — but the application process has a reputation for being long, detailed, and easy to get wrong even when someone's circumstances clearly justify an award.

Why we're doing this now

We keep hearing the same thing from people who come to us about Attendance Allowance: a family member, or they themselves, also has questions about PIP but has never applied, or applied once and didn't get the outcome they expected. We've built the infrastructure — eligibility screening, evidence gathering, application support, assessment representation — for one DWP benefit already. Extending it to PIP is a natural next step, not a new business. It's the same team, the same standards, and the same commitment to only taking on cases we genuinely think can succeed.

What makes our approach different

  • AI-powered eligibility screening built around the real DWP daily living and mobility descriptors, so we can give you an honest view of your likely outcome before you commit to anything.
  • Open Banking affordability checks, so any decision to proceed is checked against your actual financial circumstances — the aim is that supporting your claim can never leave you worse off.
  • A professional voice AI interview that guides you through describing your daily living and mobility difficulties in your own words, capturing detail that's easy to leave out on a paper form.
  • No money upfront. We only charge a success fee, and only once an award is actually in payment.
  • A technology-driven process from screening through to submission and assessment support, designed to catch the kind of detail that leads to applications being turned down unnecessarily.

To be clear about what we are: we're an independent, technology-led application support service. We are not the Department for Work and Pensions, we're not affiliated with them, and applying for PIP directly through GOV.UK is always free. Where we aim to add value is in the preparation, the evidence, and the detail — the parts of the process where applications most often go wrong.

The technology behind it, and why we can stand behind it

The voice AI interview at the centre of our process isn't a generic chatbot bolted onto a form. Our AI agents and voice agents have been trained on thousands of live calls and thousands of hours of successful benefit application calls, learning exactly how the questions the DWP actually asks map onto the daily living and mobility descriptors that decide an award. That training is what lets the interview draw out the kind of detail — how long a task takes, how often it needs to be repeated, what happens on a bad day versus a good one — that a paper form or a rushed phone call so often misses.

We also build an integrity guarantee into the process itself: no application can be submitted that is not a factual representation of the recorded call between the client and our AI agent. The application we send to the DWP is built from what was actually said, not from a template filled in around it. That matters both for our clients and for the standards we hold ourselves to — an application only goes forward if it genuinely reflects the person's own account of their circumstances.

None of this happened overnight. Our systems have been designed and built over 18 months, refined using thousands of pieces of data, to produce consistently strong outcomes alongside a straightforward, unhurried experience for the person on the other end of the call.

Why that difference is worth paying for

The DWP's own statistics show that, once withdrawn claims are excluded, only 37% of PIP applications were awarded in the period ending April 2026. Put another way, 63% of PIP applications were not awarded at the initial clearance stage — despite many of those claimants genuinely meeting the eligibility criteria. Against that backdrop, Silverwings has an overall success rate of 96% on the DWP applications we submit. That gap is, in a real sense, the entire case for what we do — and it's why Silverwings is a paid service rather than a free one: the technology, the vetting, and the evidence-gathering behind that 96% figure cost something to build and run properly.

It's also worth setting that figure against what an award is actually worth. The average PIP award is between £6,000 and £7,000 a year — over five years, that's £30,000 to £35,000 for someone whose circumstances don't change. Against a sum like that, our fee looks very small indeed, and it's a one-off payment with no money asked for upfront. It's also a fee we only charge if we're successful — if we don't win the claim, the client pays us nothing — and every fee is fully explained before we do any work, so there are no surprises along the way. If an application we submit is rejected, we take it forward to Mandatory Reconsideration for no extra charge — and that persistence matters, because typically only 28% of Mandatory Reconsiderations are upheld nationally. It genuinely pays to be diligent and to keep pushing rather than to accept a first refusal as the final word.

Coming soon

We're in the final stages of building and testing the service, and we want to get it right before we open it up properly — that means more testing, not less, on the eligibility screening and the affordability checks in particular. If you'd like to be among the first to know when it's ready, you can register your interest now and we'll be in touch as soon as we're able to take on PIP applications.
